China's 2026 summer box office passes CN¥10.7B; film holds No. 2 for the season with CN¥1.6B

Bastille Post reported on August 19 that China's summer box office earnings including presales had surpassed CN¥10.5 billion (≈US$1.5 billion) as of that morning, a CN¥500 million increase on the same day last year, with daily revenues staying above CN¥100 million for an unprecedented 40 consecutive days.[1]

On August 20, Bastille Post reported the season's total had surpassed CN¥10.7 billion (reported as about US$1.59 billion) as of Thursday noon, crediting a diverse slate spanning comedy, animation, sci-fi, war, suspense and action for drawing steady streams of audiences.[2]

Both reports placed All Wishes Come True! second on the 2026 summer box-office chart with CN¥1.6 billion (≈US$222 million), behind Stephen Chow's sports comedy Kung Fu Soccer with CN¥2.3 billion and ahead of Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: Brand New Day with CN¥1.4 billion; the three films together contributed over half of the season's cumulative box office.[1][2]
