CGTN reported on August 18 that, according to movie-ticketing platform Maoyan, China's total box-office revenue in 2026 including presales has surpassed CN¥26 billion (reported as around US$3.85 billion), with the summer movie season (June 1 – August 31) contributing more than CN¥10.2 billion (≈US$1.4 billion) to the total.[1]
As of August 18, the top three highest-grossing films of the summer season are Kung Fu Soccer with CN¥2.3 billion, Spider-Man: Brand New Day with CN¥1.6 billion, and Once Upon a Time in the Middle East with CN¥1 billion, the latter having passed the CN¥1 billion mark within eight days of its August 11 release, CGTN reported, citing Maoyan data.[1]
All Wishes Come True! at CN¥1.6B
CGTN cited All Wishes Come True! among the year's other major box-office contributors, with the animated film having grossed CN¥1.6 billion (≈US$222 million), alongside the sports drama Pegasus 3 with CN¥4.4 billion, the comedy Kung Fu Soccer with CN¥2.2 billion and the family drama Dear You with CN¥2 billion.[1]
