Holds No. 2 in fourth weekend, crosses CN¥1.4B; summer box office tops CN¥8.5B

Variety reported on August 10 that Pearl Studio's animated fantasy feature All Wishes Come True! maintained its strong summer run, taking second place with $20.4 million in its fourth weekend (Aug. 7–9) and pushing its cumulative box office to $210.6 million since its July 18 release; mainland China's overall weekend grosses reached $97.3 million, with 2026 year-to-date revenue at $3.57 billion.[1]

The Hollywood Reporter's same-day report put the fourth-weekend take at $20.4 million (RMB 138.8 million) and the cumulative total at $210.6 million (RMB 1.43 billion), calling the Mu Zhengyang-directed animated comic fantasy — a reimagining of the classic folk tale of the Eight Immortals — China's biggest performance by an animated feature this year.[2]

Bastille Post Global reported on August 9 that China's 2026 summer movie season had raked in 8.5 billion yuan (about 1.26 billion U.S. dollars) in total ticket sales including presales, with daily box office staying above 100 million yuan for 30 consecutive days and total admissions surpassing 233 million across more than 30.41 million screenings; Kung Fu Soccer, All Wishes Come True and Spider-Man: Brand New Day lead the chart, together accounting for nearly 60 percent of the season's haul.[3]

CGTN reported on August 10, citing ticketing platform Maoyan, that the summer box office had topped 8.5 billion yuan ($1.26 billion) with daily earnings exceeding 100 million yuan for 30 consecutive days; Kung Fu Soccer leads the chart with about 2.2 billion yuan, followed by the animated film All Wishes Come True and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the three titles bringing in nearly 60 percent of the season's total, while the nationwide average ticket price fell 4.3 yuan year-on-year to 39.6 yuan.[4]

The Global Times reported the same day, citing Maoyan data, that the summer season had generated more than 8.7 billion yuan ($1.3 billion) including presales as of 8 p.m. on August 10, with the period's top three titles being Kung Fu Soccer (2.26 billion yuan), All Wishes Come True! (1.44 billion yuan) and Spider-Man: Brand New Day (1.27 billion yuan); the report also noted that at least nine films have withdrawn or postponed their scheduled releases amid the fierce competition.[5]
