Details

In an official press release carried by PR Newswire, Pearl Studio and CMC Pictures announced the animated comedy feature All Wishes Come True!, inspired by the classic Chinese folklore tale The Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea. The film was set to open in the Chinese domestic market on July 24, with its worldwide release outside China slated for the summer.[1]

The announcement framed the film as the next major Chinese animated release after Ne Zha 2, which grossed more than US$2.2 billion worldwide, with the Chinese animation sector reaching US$9.3 billion in 2025.[1][2]

The story follows eight ordinary mortals who outwit formidable gods with wit and courage, proving that even mortals can challenge the divine and earn the title of the legendary Eight Immortals. The film is written and directed by Mu Zhengyang, with action design by Hong Kong Film Awards winner Su Hang (The Shadow's Edge) and voice direction by Chen Hao (Ne Zha).[1][2]

Animation Magazine covered the announcement the same day, placing the project in the lineage of White Snake, Monkey King: Hero Is Back, Jiang Ziya and the Ne Zha films — Chinese features bringing mythological tales to global audiences.[2]
