Variety: No. 4 in sixth weekend, US$255.7M

Variety reported on August 24, citing Artisan Gateway data, that Pearl Studio's animated fantasy All Wishes Come True! moved to fourth place in its sixth weekend, adding US$9.8 million; the film, directed by Mu Zhengyang, has amassed US$255.7 million since its July 18 debut.[1]

The August 21–23 weekend was led by war comedy-drama Once Upon a Time in the Middle East with RMB298.8 million (US$43.9 million) in its second frame for a US$232.2 million cumulative, followed by crime drama V, which debuted in second with US$18.9 million; overall weekend grosses reached US$103.1 million, with 2026 year-to-date revenue at US$4 billion, down 28.6% from the same period in 2025.[1]

Bastille Post reported on August 24 that China's summer box office had surpassed CN¥11.5 billion (reported as over US$1.7 billion) as of Sunday, an increase of CN¥500 million over earnings by the same day last year, with daily ticket sales staying above the CN¥100 million threshold for an unprecedented 44 consecutive days.[2]

The report named four titles currently leading the season: Stephen Chow's sports comedy Kung Fu Soccer, animated sensation All Wishes Come True!, anti-war drama Once Upon a Time in the Middle East and Sony-Marvel blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day; the sizzling summer performance has propelled China's year-to-date box office total past CN¥27 billion as of Saturday.[2]
