Moviexclusive: 'top ten movies of 2026'

Reviewer Linus Tee described the film as the latest animated adventure from China riding on the huge success of Ne Zha 2, one that reimagines the Eight Immortals from classic Chinese mythology "as if they were on an Ocean's Eleven-style heist," and wrote that director-screenwriter Mu Zhengyang "ought to be given the biggest pat on the shoulder" for reinventing both the origins of the Eight Immortals and the mythology surrounding gods and mortals.[1]

The review found "more hidden messages, conspiracies and double-crossings than in the average political thriller," adding that "for an animation that runs for over two hours, there's hardly any downtime," with countless comedic moments — a fake temple operation, a surprise celestial horse appearance, "a clever take on our wireless earphones" and a Monkey King cameo.[1]

"The animation in All Wishes Come True is truly breathtaking, as are the top-notch character designs," the review said, singling out the rendering of Lü Dongbin and the heavenly realm of Penglai, and noting that The Shadow's Edge stunt coordinator Su Hang is credited as action choreographer; on the minus side, the focus on the Lü Dongbin–Zhongli Quan storyline leaves the rest of the immortals "relegated to comic relief for the majority of the screen time."[1]

Moviexclusive concluded: "We are not ashamed to admit that this is going to be one of our top ten movies of 2026, even with some minor quibbles... there's absolutely nothing wrong with loving this madcap, mystical comedy," according to first-time director Mu's own point that even the immortals have their flaws.[1]
